If the easiest mode avaliable in SS2 is too hard for you to get through without losing your temper, than maybe SS2 (a game about brutal survival in a hostile environment) isn't the game for you.Īside from the difficulty and atmosphere (and the mechanics that reinforce the two), what else does the game have? Low resolution textures, simple animations, awkward hitboxes, hit-or-more-often-miss voice acting, and the occasional shallow story hidden in the world? You'd have more fun playing Bioshock or Fallout New Vegas any day of the week. SS2 is the struggle to stay alive in a hostile environment.

Trying to experience the game without the difficulty is like trying to play chess without the ability to lose pieces: it's just moving a bunch of things around until the game is over. I have nothing but fond memories of my time with Half-Life and the years of fun and entertainment its modding community provided me.īut to answer your question. The narrative and presentation of the game was something i have never experienced before. The Half-Life: Uplink demo to be bit more specific.
